We have a wide variety of kayaks to suit people of all shapes and sizes.
We can provide kayaking sessions for all abilities from beginners to coaches -either fun sessions or working towards a qualification. Longridge taster sessions are great experience for the first time paddler – from 8years old plus. Our kayaks are fitted with retractable skegs, when in the down position these enable paddlers to paddle in a straight line very quickly. Our taster sessions take place throughout the day and evening from April until the end of October.
For those that want to progress their kayaking, they can take one of our courses and join a Longridge club. We can assist with qualifications up to instructor level - in fact most instructors in the UK, will have received part of their training here at Longridge.
Evening courses will run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at varying times depending on which course you are doing, with the intensive courses running at various dates throughout the year.
Our activity session prices are based on groups of 8 for a fun session or 6 if working towards a BCU qualification. All sessions are run by one of our qualified instructors and last for 75 minutes.

This 8 session course is takes you through all the basic strokes and safety procedures in both a kayak and a canoe. Participants work in small groups of 6 to ensure a high level of safe training, which enables all paddlers to advance their skills at their own pace.
After school courses are run weekly for 8 weeks at 16:30 - 17:45. Alternatively we run intensive (9:00 - 17:00) 2 day courses on the dates below.

All Longridge activities are suitable for 8yrs and older providing the participants fit the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as the buoyancy aids.
For all activities you should wear clothing that you can move easily in such as sports clothing e.g. track suit and T-Shirt with trainers or deck shoes.
This 24 session course is split into 4 sections and is the next step for young paddlers who have completed their Paddlepower Passport. As with all courses, we work with small groups to ensure that all participants are able to work at their own pace.
The after school course has been split into 4 parts, with each part lasting 6 weeks. Each session is at 16:30 - 17:45.
Dates for the 5 day intensive (09:00 - 17:00) Discover courses are below, through this course students should achieve parts 1-4. However, as this is a modular course it would be possible to complete areas that needed further tutition in our club sessions.

This 5-session course is aimed at the complete beginner who working within a small group of 6 will at the end of the course take an assessment that successful completion of which will lead to an introductory award that demonstrates an individual has basic boat control in a kayak.
You may either do a weekly course over 5 weeks or an intensive 1 day course from 9.00am to 17:00.
Evening courses run from 18:30 to 19:45.

Those 14 - 25 years of age are eligible for Sportivate funding to pay for the 5 week course, which reduces the cost - ask for Sportivate courses when you book.
The 1-star Refresher course has been designed to provide a stepping stone between the 1-star and 2-star courses. The half day allows paddlers to hone in and perfect strokes which will give them the confidence and ability to step up to a 2-star level.
This is run from 09:00 - 13:00.
Working within a small group, to enable each paddler to work at their own pace, our highly skilled instructors will take someone with a basic understanding of kayak and canoe and help them develop fundamental paddlesport skills on flat water in both a kayak and a canoe
Courses run in three different formats; a 4-day intensive (09:00 - 17:00) course, over 2 weekends (both Saturday and Sunday of both weekends) or over 12-weeks, one evening a week from 18:30 - 19:45.

On completion of the 3 Star Open Canoe Award you can consider yourself an intermediate canoe paddler rather than beginner. You will learn about paddling on open water and simple moving water. 2 Star standard is the appropriate level of performance for paddlers to begin working towards the 3 Star award.
This 2 day course includes training and assessment and is run 09:00 - 17:00 on both days.
